The Artsy argument
Art is an interesting concept that can warp the definition of almost anything. For example, if I ask for a painting of a dog and an artist brings me back several painted paw prints many of my friends would probably tell me to be happy that I received such a unique painting. At first even I might be a little bit impressed that instead of giving me what I expected the artist surprised me. However, surprise can turn into cheated very quickly. After a few days I will realize that instead of getting a painting of a dog like I wanted I got the paw prints of the artist pet. That small anecdote is one of the many examples when the word art is used to make up for regulations or shortcomings. (To be continued)
What this blog is
I have been posting at this blog for quite some time now and I think its about time I give it some sort of identity. This blog was originally made for an assignment I had for AP English and language composition. However, I have finished the class and can't seem to let go of the blog. So this blog will basically be comprised of some of my ideas and concerns. Things that bother me, but I just like thinking them through instead of writing them out. So now that this blog finally has some sort of an identity I guess I can write in it a bit more.

Why Americans Will Never Understand Politics
Today I entered the publication lab of my school asked to participate in a mock poll. I of course took this time to do what most other teenagers do and made jokes about how pointless this is and immediately started telling kids to vote for Obama when the the teacher said to keep your loyalties to yourself. However, once it was my turn to go on the computer and vote, I was really perplexed. They asked me tons of information (which they will most likely use to spam me) which lead me to believe this poll was a serious take on how teens feel about the election and who they support the most. After I finished filling out the cascade of information I was prompted to a poll of which issue I felt was the most important throughout the election. I picked the economy and proceeded to watch my mac take a few seconds to send me to the next page. What I saw was another poll asking me to vote for either Obama or McCain.
Now you might be saying at this moment OK what's wrong with that scenario, but there is a giant issue. Where is Ralph Nader on that ballot? Where is there an other option on that ballot? How can you say your having a mock election if you won't even put all the candidates who are voting? Now yes I know that Ralph Nader has little chance of winning, but he is still running and what kind of realism is this website showing by only allowing teen voters to vote for either Obama or McCain.
Basically when they only gave us those two choices they said," Since Obama and McCain are the republican and the democrat they are the only important candidates in this election." Well guess what Channel One(the website that the mock election was on), at least 11 percent of Americans believe that Nader is an important candidate and the poll you gave us was a slap in the face for everyone American who takes their future seriously.
If anyone bothers to read this tell me what you think!

Why I Hate Americans out of the Country
After coming back from my first ever "Euro Trip" I have concluded a lot of things about Americans. First we usually respond to being in another country in really only two ways. We either gawk at things as if we've never seen something written in a foreign language (or in odd British terminology). Or we decide to compare everything to how things are in America and conclude that since it isn't in America it must be inferior in some way. As for which definition I was lets just say I ran to the first German sign I saw and demanded one of the kids on the trip with me take my picture. Sadly later on the trip I will find out my camera was either stolen or lost so I will not be able to give you the satisfaction of seeing me pose in front of a German sign which seemed to be promoting air travel (understandable seeing that we were in Frankfurt airport). The second observation I concluded about Americans is most of us assume that no one speaks English in countries such as France and Italy. When you reach such destinations you will find that most people do know the language or at least understand it. To my dismay it took very long to realize the second observation as I tried to speak to an Italian in broken Spanish.
Now many people would look at these observations and merely say I'm stating the obvious. Which is completely true Americans can really be dim-witted. However while I sit here writing about how ridiculously well ridiculous Americans can be out of the country, I think about all those kids that I took that amazing journey with. How some of them confirmed my extreme disliking towards Americans out of the country and how I saw others really become cultured on those ten amazing days. I was fifteen going to Europe and all I expected was to see a few cool monuments and have a bit fun. What I didn't expect was me changing for the rest of my life. But like I said before not all blossomed culturally on the trip. There are some kids who just aren't interested in outbranching themselves.

Catch-22
I finished the book Catch-22 with a feeling of relief and sadness. In the end catch-22 feels like it gave you all the answers, but it didn't. Much like 1984 and Slaughterhouse-five the protagonist loses or at least doesn't receive the victory you were hoping for. Is this another anti war book? Yes. Is it the same as slaughterhouse-five? No. Truthfully the message I received from this book is that we are all crazy. And if we were extremely sane then we would be even more crazy. Yosarrian the protagonist of the book ends up having to decide between endorsing the generals he hated and going to jail for crimes he did not commit. In the end he decided to run, he decided to run and noticed that his comrade Orr had this idea of running long before he did. But I still need to think more about this there is a lot about catch-22 I still don't understand and I need time to reflect on it.

Another War Book
The new book I have finally been lucky to discover is a very renown book well at least its title is. The book I have started to read now is Catch-22 and it has been excellent. It is very reminiscent of the hitchhikers guide and 1984. This combination of cruelty and humor is something I have never seen before, but the results makes one intruiging book. To explain Catch-22 all you need to do is explain what the title means. A Catch-22 is a situation where no matter what decision you make things will either stay the same or go for the worst. This feeling of hopelessness and despair has been placed through some of the most funniest scenarios I have ever heard of. From a major whose name was major major, to the loyalty pact. Yossarian the main character has to take on the war with the upmost highest level of sanity. His perspective is usually very cold and dark, but very real when you reflect on it. The humor of the book however keeps you from getting depressed or shaken as you would while reading a book like 1984.
